The porch is the thing. Forty-five feet of covered front porch with natural log posts, wide enough to actually use, built to the scale of the property rather than tacked on as an afterthought. That alone sets the tone for what this place is.

The house itself started as an unfinished shell and got turned into something with real interior character. Wood walls, wood ceilings, barn doors on the bedroom storage. The kitchen has an island, open shelving, a pot filler above the range, and distressed finishes that work with the look rather than fighting it. A deep soaking tub in the bathroom. This was a deliberate build-out with a clear aesthetic in mind, not a generic renovation. Someone made choices here and mostly stuck to them.

At 1,710 square feet, it has two bedrooms plus a third that counts as nonconforming, and one full bath. Single level. The 0.61-acre lot has mature trees and enough privacy that you can actually feel the distance from neighbors. Two miles north of Alton puts you close enough to town while still being genuinely in the woods.

The big practical wins: metal roof already on, new mini-split HVAC at 36,000 BTU, rural water, septic. None of the deferred-maintenance conversations that come with older rural houses. Built in 2014, renovated more recently, and the systems have been addressed. That simplifies things considerably.

The honest downside is the market itself. Zip code data here runs thin, seven comps for the price comparison. The numbers point toward this being priced below the local median, but thin data means less certainty. Alton is rural Oregon County, and sales volume reflects that. You would want to know your exit before you go in.

But if the exit is staying put, the math looks reasonable. At $83 a square foot, with a porch that size, a wooded lot, and systems that do not need replacement, you are getting a place that already has a distinct personality for a price that gives you room to breathe.
